Rio unveils 2016 Paralympic Games logo

Rio de Janeiro has unveiled the logo for the 2016 Paralympic Games during the famous lighting ceremony of the city's floating Christmas tree.

Saturday's presentation began with a dance and a video of paralympic athletes training, followed by a large sculpture of the logo. Shapes on the logo trace those of the famous Sugar Loaf hills.

Organizers said the logo represents the energy, diversity, and spirit that is shown during the competition. Officials began the selection process over a year ago. Rio will be the first South American city to host the Paralympic games.

Watch Video Play Video A long-awaited moment for China at the Asian Winter Games. It happened during a gold medal run in the women's 1500 meters speed skating event. Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
