Ecuador faces Peru at the Atahualpa, 2,800 metres above sea level. And the home side opened the scoring in the 69th minute. Cristian Benitezs through ball sets up Edison Mendez to slot past the keeper into the corner - Ecuador lead 1-0.

Ecuador settles it in the 87th minute. Jaime Ayovi bursts clear and his pass was turned in by Mexican-based former Birmingham City forward Benitez. Ecuador beats Peru 2-0.
