David Beckham: Blatter's remarks won't help to fix problem

Now, Blatter has apolgised for offending anyone by his comments but says he will not resign as FIFA president as that would be irresponsible. And as we just mentioned, his flippant comments have set off a storm of controversy. L-A Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is among those who were taken aback by the remarks, who says it will take more than a simple gesture of shaking hands to rid the game of racism, and the remarks by the FIFA boss will do nothing to fix the problem.
David Beckham, Midfielder of L.A. Galaxy, said, "I think the comments were appalling. I think a lot of people have said that. I dont think the comments were very good for this game. I have no power with who goes and who stays within FIFA, and I dont wish to have that. There obviously is and has been racism throughout soccer and life over the last few years. But I do think, especially being around the England team, being around the FA. The FA do a lot of work with kicking racism out of the game and theyve made huge strides over the last 10-15 years. It is still there and it cant just be swept under the carpet and it cant just be sorted out with just a hand shake."
