CBA: Guangdong defeats Dongguan 83-69

The pro basketball season is set to tip-off in China. The Chinese Basketball Associations reigning champion Guangdong took on Dongguan in a pre-season matchup. A Guangdong win would make it six straight against its sound-alike rival.

Guangdong in white, enjoys a strong pre-season so far while Dongguan has suffered back-to-back defeats. It didnt take long for the champs to show their style. Dongguan was down by 20 before the end of the first half in a lopsided match.

The defending champs made the most of Dongguans critical turnovers in this game. Back-to-back errors from Dongguan kept Guangdongs momentum going in the second half. James Singleton is back for Guangdong this season, and he notched 22 points and 13 rebounds for this game. Zhu Fangyu scored 14 points and Wang Shipeng had 11. Guangdong won it 83-69.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
