Presidents Cup Golf: US takes 13-9 lead into final day

In golf, the United States team moved a step closer to retaining the Presidents Cup in Australia. The USA had a 7-5 lead heading into Saturday's play and looked to capture the tournament for a seventh time.

The US dominated the morning foursomes 4-1 on a wet and windy day at Royal Melbourne. South Korean Kim Kyung-tae drained a putt on the 18th for the Internationals. He and Y.E. Yang beat Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson to give the Internationals a bit of hope late in the day.

Then K. J. Choi and Australias Geoff Ogilvy took out Steve Stricker and Matt Kuchar, 1-up. Two-time U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen and fellow South African Charl Schwartzel outlasted Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson.

But the Yanks regained some momentum thanks to Billy Haas and Hunter Mahans win over Australians Aaron Baddeley and Jason Day. Tiger Woods finally won a match. He teamed with Dustin Johnson to down Adam Scott and K. J. Choi, 3 & 2.

Mahan and David Toms also downed Goosen and Schwartzel 5 & 4. The USA went into Sundays final d! ay with a 13-9 lead and only needs 4-and-half out of 12 points to retain the Cup.
