The rift between Tiger Woods and his former caddie Steve Williams may finally be coming to an end. The latest incident stems from Williams comments during an awards banquet in China, where to paraphrase Williams words; he was looking to stick it to his former boss.
Tiger discussed the remark in Australia as he prepares for this weeks Australian Open. Williams used the language when he was given the award for best celebration following Adam Scotts win in August. The victory was the first for Williams as a caddie for Scott, after he was fired by Tiger Woods. Woods says the two have spoken and accepted his former caddies apology.
Tiger Woods defended his former caddie Steve Williams Tuesday, saying he was not a
racist and had apologised for a "hurtful" slur that triggered widespread condemnation
last week.
Tiger said: "Yeah actually we talked this morning, we met face-to-face and talked about it, talked it through. Obviously it was the wrong thing to say. Something that we both acknowledge now and we are moving forward obviously. He did apologies, it was hurtful, certainly, but life goes forward. No, Stevies certainly not racist, theres no doubt about that. I think it was a comment that shouldnt have been made and certainly one that he wished he didnt make."
