In the NHL games, the Capitals were back in Washington for the second half of a home-and-home with the New Jersey Devils. Washington won Friday's game 3-1, and got off to a quick start on Saturday night.
The Caps' Troy Brouwer made a steal and beat Johan Hedberg to open the night's scoring, and Capitals struck again 10 minutes later at the end of a power play. John Carlson blasted the puck from the point and Jason Chimera tipped it past Hedberg to make it 2-0.
