Vokoun stops 36 as Panthers blank Capitals 3-0

The high powered offense of the Washington Capitals has been running dry of late, the Capitals losers of two straight as they welcomed the Florida Panthers on Friday, looking to get back in the win column.


After a scoreless first period, the Panthers would opening the scoring in the dying seconds of the second.


Off the scramble in front, Michael Frolik is able to get his stick on the puck, and beat Semyon Varlamov. His sixth goal of the season putting Florida in front.


Halfway through three the Panthers add to their lead.


Stephen Weiss hits the post off the rebound, but Varlamov is taken out by his own player...and the puck, bounces right to Steve Bernier. He knocks it home to make it 2-0 Cats.


Late in the third, the Panthers on the power play and they put this one to bed.


Mike Santorelli, with a great display of patience. That, his 8th goal of the season.


Thomas Vokoun, making 36 stops for the Panthers as they shut out the Capitals at home.
