Garnett's winner lifts Celtics over 76ers

Two of the hottest teams in the NBA in action on Thursday night, and we begin with the hottest team in the East. The Boston Celtics, looking for their ninth straight win as they took on the Philadelphia 76ers.


Pick it up in the first, Philly up 11 when Andre Iguodala makes the lead nine, in huge fashion.


By the end of the quarter, the Celtics had cut the lead to one but the lead, three thanks to Thadeus Young, great name...better dunk.


he finished with 16 off the bench.


3rd Q, Celts down 4, but they cut the lead to one, with the three.


And with less than three to play, the Celtics had taken a one point lead but jodie Meeks, with the big three to put Philly up 2.


The Celtics, back again Ray Allan with a three of his own to put Boston up one Allan led Boston with 23.


The sixers though retake the lead Andre Iguodala drove for a hook shot with 6.6 seconds left to put Philly up 101-100.


The Celtics with one chance left and off the inbounds Rajon rondo fipped a perfect alley-oop pass from just outside the 3-point line to Kevin Garnett.


Garnett, banks it in to give the Boston Celtics a narrow victory, their ninth straight, 102-101 over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
