Peruvian players brawl in national c'ship

We turn now to the first leg of the two-legged Peruvian championship finals, Leon and Universidad playing for the title and this one, got out of hand and out of hand quickly.


Fans cheered players from the hometown Leon de Huanuco team as they ran onto the pitch at Heraclio Tapia Stadium for the much-anticipated match with Universidad San Martin.


33 minutes into the first half, Leon's Ronaile Calheira and Universidad's Cristian Ramos began to battle and things quickly disintegrated into a full scale brawl.Riot police were forced to come in and break up the fight and the referee sent off four players.


Eventually the match ended with a 1-1 tie. The second leg of the championship will be played December 19.
