NHL: Penguins beat Devils 2-1

Sidney Crosby scored a goal and set up another as the Pittsburgh Penguins matched the second-longest winning streak in franchise history, beating the New Jersey Devils 2-1 to collect their tenth win in a row.


Marc-Andre Fleury go on to make 27 saves as the Penguins matched a 10-game winning streak set in January 1999. But it was New Jersey who took a 1-0 lead on Brian Rolston's first goal in 10 games.They were hoping to erverse a six game losing streak on the road.


Late in the first quarter, Sidney Crosby set up Pittsburgh's first goal beating Chris Kunitz for a one-timer. The 16-game point scoring streak is the league's longest this season and matches the second longest run of Crosby's career.


Crosby then put Pittsburgh ahead in the second, following up shots from the points by Alex Goligoski and Chris Kunitz. Goligoski's shot deflected to Crosby at the right side of the net, and his shot banked off defenseman Colin White's stick and past Johan Hedberg. Crosby leads the NHL with 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points. The Penguins went on to beat the devils 2-1.


Blue Jackets beat Stars 3-2


The Columbus Blue Jackets were tying 1-1 with the Dallas Stars at home before Steve Ott jammed in a perfect feed from Trevor Daley with seven minutes, 52 seconds left in regulation to break the 1-1 tie.


Then in the final minute, Rick Nash rifled a low wrister through traffic provided by R.J. Umberger. The puck slipped over Lehtonen's right leg pad to level the score at 2-2, forcing overtime and a subsequent shoot-out.


After Nash and Richards scored, rookie Kyle Wilson went third and used a hard forehand shot to beat Lehtonen on the stick side. It was Wilson's first career shoot-out. Garon then made a right toe save on Jamie Benn to seal the 3-2 shoot-out win.
