Dortmund beat Nuremberg 2-0, top table by 10 points

We turn now to football action from the Bundesliga, and leaders Borussia Dortmund continue to run away with the league lead. They opened up a massive 10-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga on Sunday, beating Nuremberg for their 13th win in 15 league games.


In the 23rd minute, Mats Hummels nodded in a deep cross from close range, giving the visitors the 1-0 lead


Two minutes from time, Robert Lewandowski added another for Dortmund with a low strike in the area. 2-0 final score, Borussi wrapped up their 8th away win and are comfortably atop the table.

Leverkusen edge Cologne 3-2


Bayer Leverkusen entertained Cologne. 21st minute, Patrick Helmes responded quick to tap in a parried shot, but the replay showed that it was an offside goal, but the referee failed to make the call


Nonetheless, 1-0 Leverkusen


Cologne levelled six minutes later when German international Lukas Podolski curled a free kick into the box and Brazilian Geromel was there to volley it in.


Leverkusen regained the lead when some neat teamwork left the Cologne defence chasing shadows before Tranquillo Barnetta directed a diagonal shot into the corner of the net. Seven minutes later, more Leverkusen.


Stefan Reinartz rose high to head in a missed corner to make it 3-1.


In the 65th minute, Cologne made it interesting. Substitute Martin Lanig sparkled to chip one in from close range. 3-2 final score


In the standings, Dortmund's win ensures their 10 point cushion over second placed Mainz. Leverkusen is one point back in third. Hanover 96, Freiburg and Hoffenheim take next three spots, Giants Bayern Munich still need to move up the table...they sit in 7th place.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds.
