Brazilian Championship award held in Rio De Janeiro
The Brazilian Championship's end of season award night was held in Rio De Janeiro on Monday night.
One day after Fluminense became Brazilian League champions following a 26-year drought, the iconic Rio City theatre hosted an end of season awards gala. With a samba music backdrop, the Brazilian FA named their selections for a team of all-stars.
Former Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos was given the title of the best fullback. But in this year's competition, the night was dominated by overseas players. The MVP award went to Argentine midfielder Dario Conca of Fluminese. A special lifetime award was then given to Ronaldo.
Serbia celebrates Davis Cup victory
The people of Belgrade turned out in force to welcome home Serbia's victorious Davis Cup team. Five players led by Novak Djokovic received a hero's welcome after lifting the nations first ever title in the competition with a 3-2 victory over France on the weekend. Belgrade City Hall was the center of the celebrations. The tennis and football crazy country savored every moment of the victory pouring out onto the streets to celebrate. It is only the second time an unseeded country has clinched the Davis Cup trophy, and the people of Belgrade had nothing but praise for the team.
