Asian Para Games torch relay continues
We begin with day 6 of the Asian Para Games torch relay in the host city of Guangzhou.
The event, beginning at Guangzhou stadium Friday morning. Among the 90 torch bearers on the day were Asian Games women's basketball champion Guan Xin, and a special guest, the president of the Asian Paralympic Committee, Datuk Zainal Abu Zarin.
At 9:40 a.m., Abu Zarin took the torch...and began the first leg of the day's relay. Abu Zarin has been committed to promoting para sports around Asia.
The Asian Paralympic Committee president says he is happy to see that of the 660 torch bearers for the Para Asian Games, over 20% are those who suffer from disabilities.
The second carrier of the torch was a member of the Chinese delegation for the Para Asia Games, Para Olympics champion Ma Lin.
12 of Friday's 90 torch bearers were disabled people, including Ren Guixiang who has won five table tennis gold medals in the last three Para Olympics.
Then came Guan Xin. A member of the women's team that claimed the Asian Games basketball championship, the 23 year-old is considered the future backbone of the Chinese women's team.
Altogether, 20 foreign representatives from other Asian countries and regions participated in the event.
Guangzhou Asian Games nanquan boxing champion Huang Guangyuan was the final torchbearer, finishing off the 7.8 km route, the final stage of the relay goes on Saturday.
