Asian Para Games venues ready after updates

The Guangdong Olympic Sport Center will be the scene for the Asian Para Games opening ceremony, as well as the track and field events. In order to meet the non-barrier requirements, the stadium has had minor refurbishments to cater for athletes living with disabilities.


A crowd of volunteers are brushing the ground to increase vision impact. As the opening ceremony will be held on the 12th, the volunteers are giving their all to ensure that people attending will get the best impressions of the event. Thousands of meters of blind roads are away from busy areas, and ramps have been added inside and outside the venues. The non-barrier seats have been increased from 100 to 350 and there are special seats for the athletes. They can watch the performance of the opening ceremony. In addition, non-barrier restrooms are also ready. Built in 2001, the Olympic Sport Center has held the 9th National Games, as well as some other sport events.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
