Real Madrid draws 2-2 with Barcelona

The 'big two' of Spanish club football met in another grand soccer showdown on Sunday. Real Madrid and Barcelona faced each other in the first leg of the Spanish Supercup.

This match gave the fans everything they wanted, with coach Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid creating strong attacking play in the first half. Karim Benzema crossed the ball from the right side and Mesut Ozil provided the scoring punch, he put Real Madrid ahead 1-0 in the 12th minute.

Visiting Barcelona came back with a counter-attacking style at the end of the first half, and found some success in the 35th minute. David Villa curled a shot past Iker Casillas and Barca had leveled the score, 1-1.

There was just enough room on the clock for another Barca score in first-half injury-time. Lionel Messi's shot was right on target. Barcelona swept into a half-time lead against Real Madrid.

But the home side equalised early in the second half. Xabi Alonso's goal stood up as the biggest score of the night. Real Madrid and Barcelona draw 2-2.
