The dream is over for Oscar Pistorius in the men's 400 meters. The South African double-amputee sprinter finished eighth in his semi-final but has made history never the less.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
