Beijing will host one of European soccer's most-fabled matchups on Saturday. Internazionale and AC Milan are getting ready for the Milan derby at Beijing's iconic Bird's Nest stadium. Inter captain Javier Zanetti looked tired after his arrival, but hopes to overcome his bitter rivals to lift the Italian SuperCup trophy.
Latest reports suggest that the Supercoppa could be Wesley Sneijder's last match for Inter, as the Netherlands midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United. Inter Milan coach Gian Piero Gasperini preferred to talk about Sneijder's form, rather than a move away from the San Siro.
Gasperini said, "Sneijder's performance might not be great during the pre-seasons. I think our team is not doing well, too. We can play great football on our day, still might play badly sometimes. It is not possible for Sneijder to play at his top level for every match."
Inter have also been linked with a swap deal between striker Samuel Eto'o and Manchester City's unhappy Carlos Tevez. Recent reports have suggested Inter are prepared to offer Brazil right-back Maicon to Manchester City as part of an exchange. Gasperini insisted the transfer market rumours won't disrupt his team's preparations.
Gasperini said, "It's normal for there to be rumours from the transfer market, especially when there are great players like ours at the club. But the truth is that nothing has happened, so far on the transfer market, and we are here to play and win our match."
Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti had to cancel his holiday at the last minute to travel to Beijing - due to an injury to Japan full-back! Yuto Na gatomo.
Javier Zanetti said, "It's good to be with the team in Beijing - and play in the Supercoppa Italiana. I think winning the cup here will be a huge honour for me and for the team."
But a win for Inter is in doubt as their rivals Milan have a relatively full squad in Beijing. But an explosive night will be expected as both teams enjoy an enormous fanbase in China.
