The giant size warmth displayed by NBA star Kevin Garnett on his China tour has continued in the nation's capital Beijing.

The Boston Celtics forward received another huge welcome from thousands of fans outside the Beijing Capital Gymnasium. They had been waiting several hours for their hero, but it was all worthwhile as Garnett taught the fans how to play basketball with a positive attitude, big hugs and warm smiles despite the 30 degree Celsius temperature.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
