Wang Chunli claims China's 1st gold in Asian Winter Games

The first day of competition from the Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan. China, winning it's first gold of the competition on the opening day as Wang Chunli took the gold in the women's biathlon 7.5km Sprint.

28-year-old Wang Chunli was the last athlete to start among the eight competitors. The biathlon includes cross-country skiing and shooting, Wang has a strong background in skiing, but on this day it was her shooting that would make the difference.

At prone shooting position, Wang was able to hit all five of her targets, which jumped her up to third place in the event.

And Wang, was on target again when it came to the standing position. Again, she knocked down all of her targets...giving her first place in the biathlon.

28-year-old Wang finished with a combined time of 23 minutes, 12.1 seconds, winning
the first gold for China.
