Brazilian forward Cleo joins Chinese football club

A budding international soccer star is setting down in China. Brazilian forward Cleo signed a four-year contract with Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club, on a transfer fee of 3-million, 200-thousand euros. That's a new record in the history of the Chinese professional league.

The club's coach and team officials introduced the 25-year-old striker, who scored 10 goals in 12 matches in the European Champions League. Cleo helped Serbia's Partizan qualify for the group stage.He scored two goals in two matches against English Premier League giant Arsenal. That made him attractive to some of the better outfits in the Premier League, Ligue 1 and Lega Calcio. But the Chinese club won the tag of war.

"Thank you for the support from the media and fans.I think the system here in Chinese football shares some similarities with clubs in Europe, and Evergrande's efforts strengthened my desire to join the team. I am embracing new challenges, and I hope to get more goals and victories for Evergrande." said Cleo.

Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds.
