A block of stadiums have been newly built for the events.
In previous history, swimming, diving and synchronized swimming events were usually held in the same stadium, but the events for this edition of the championship are scattered over four stadiums.
The main swimming venue in the largest of the new stadiums allows a capacity audience of 15,000.
The Shanghai organizers hope to provide a unique experience as they host the World Championships that spectators and athletes alike will not soon forget.
