In the NFL the Green Bay Packers met the Pittsburgh Steelers for the American football championship on Sunday. The Packers were seeking their first title in 14 years. The Green Bay organization won the very first Super Bowl game back in 1966.

The team from Wisconsin took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers delivered a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson. Then, cornerback Nick Collins got the Packers' second score on an interception return. Pittsburgh got on the board with a field goal in the second quarter. Then Rodgers came back again with a 21-yard pass to make the score 21-3 at halftime. Later Pittsburgh running back Rashard Mendenhall scored from eight-yards out early in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to just four points. But the Steelers committed their third turnover of the game and that led to another Packers touchdown. Green Bay held on to defeat the Steelers 31-25. Aaron Rodgers was named the game's most valuable player.
