Human-like robots compete in marathon
If a robot competed in a marathon, how fast would it finish? Well as of now, human marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie can rest easy, as the answer appears to be several days.
On Thursday, five human-like robots in Osaka, Japan took part in the world's first ever robot marathon.
The diminutive android athletes, standing just 16-inches high, are competing against each other over a full marathon course, 422 laps around this track built inside an Osaka convention center.
Just like humans, the robots are able to do things like pull themselves up when falling over.
If the event gathers more support, the organizers says that the marathon will turn into an international competition similar in scale to the Robo Cup, the robot football world cup.
