Diego joins Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid is trading one Diego for another. With Diego Forlan off to Inter Milan, Atletico has brought into the fold Brazilian playmaking mid-fielder Diego. Atletico, agreed to sign Diego on loan from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

The Brazilian was officially presented at a press conference by the club's sports director Jose Luis Caminero. The 26-year-old will wear the number 22 jersey for the La Liga club.

Diego has been well travelled over recent years, spending time all over Europe. He played in Germany for Werder Bremen from 2006-2009, and then joined Juventus of Italy's Serie A in 2009.

One year ago, he returned to the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg but failed to shine.

And now he heads to Spain...where the Brazilian will slot into Atletico's starting center midfield spot. He will look to help the side become a major force in the Spanish La Liga this season. Atletico drew with Osasuna in the season opener last Sunday.
