The Gunners took on Bolton Wanderers on Sunday, and looked to continue their title chase with time and games running out on the schedule. But Bolton grabbed a 1-0 lead at halftime.
On-loan Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge provided a header for the Wanderers' score. Then, Robin van Persie shot home the equaliser for Arsenal.
Arsenal pushed hard for the winning score, but Bolton's Tamir Cohen came off the sideline to shock the Gunners. He headed-in a corner kick and Arsenal suffers a crushing blow to its title hopes, 2-1 losers in stoppage time.
Bolton grabbed a 1-0 lead at halftime.
To the standings..United leads the way with 73 points, defending champion Chelsea is second on 67, and Arsenal has 64.
The Gunners have won only one of their last seven league games. Manchester City is fourth with 56, the Citizens visit Blackburn Rovers on Monday. Tottenham Hotspur is next with 55.
