MLB: Dodgers defeat Rockies 10-8

The Los Angeles Dodgers on the road in Colorado to take on the Rockies. Both these teams, looking to keep pace with the NL West leading San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers and Giants came into this one 5.5 back.

Bottom of one, Colorado gets on the board in a big way. Seth Smith, gets all of the Rubby De La Rosa offering, the three run bomb to right, makes it 3-0. Smith's sixth home run of the season.

Top three, and Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez, with the bases loaded, get's touched up by James Loney. This one, just has enough to get out for the grand slam, and the Dodgers, on top 4-3 with just one swing of the bat.

Top five, more from the LA bats. This time, it's Rod Barajas with the solo home run to straightaway center. Barajas, making it 7-3 Dodgers.

Bottom seven, the Rockies made things interesting. Down 9-5, Colorado slugger Troy Tuliwitzki hammers the Ramon Troncoso offering a long way to left center, and it's now a two run ballgame.

Same deficit, bottom ninebut Scott Elbert gets Seth Smith to ground out to first to end the ballgame. The Dodgers win a wild one, 10-8 the final over Colorado.

Twins thrash Rangers 6-1

Elsewhere the defending American League Champion Texas Rangers visited the Minnesota Twins.

Bottom one, Luke Hughes plated Ben Revere from second base with a two-out single to left off Ranger starter Matt Harrison to put the Twins on top 1-0.

The score would stay there, until the bottom of seven, where Michael Cuddyer sparks a five ru! n inning with this three run blast to left off Rangers reliever Mark Lowe. The Twins would end the seventh up 6-0.

Twins starter Francisco Liriano, carried a no-hitter into the eighth, but there, Adrian Beltre breaks it up, the weak little single getting ths single to go. Liriano, already with one no-no this year denied his attempt at number two.

Liriano, would however pick up the win as Minnesota went on to beat Texas 6-1 to take three of four games from the reigning AL Champions.

Wang Fei resets 1500m speed skating Asian record

Watch Video Play Video A long-awaited moment for China at the Asian Winter Games. It happened during a gold medal run in the women's 1500 meters speed skating event. Chinese skater Wang Fei raced her way into the record books. She set a new Asian mark for the 1500 metres, crossing the line at 1 minute 58.37 seconds. It was 1-and-a-half seconds under the previous record time she set four years ago. South Korean Noh Seonyeong took second place. The bronze went to Japanese skater Kodaira Nao.
