Mavs overcome Heat 112-103, take 3-2 lead in NBA Finals

The Dallas Mavericks, loaded with 30-somethings or late 30s, entertained the Miami Heat and the Big Three for the Game 5 of the series after tied it at 2-all. The Mavs looked to carry on their momentum they built in Game 2 and 4, taking a giant step towards their first NBA championship title.

Late in the opening frame, Jason Terry to Tyson Chandler in the paint, who put in a bucket and drained foul, Dalls built up a narrow cushion.

Mario Chalmers, however, was big, he hit a halfcourt buzzer beater, Miami had one point lead at the end of the quarter.

Chris Bosh drained a three point play on a layup, Miami stayed in the game, as both sides traded leads.

Dirk Nowitzki, who battled through a flu, hit a textbook jumper, making it 2 point game. Dallas shot 60 percent through three quarters.

Dirk again, turned and laid in a bucket after dancing through the defence, Dallas regained 2 point lead.

Both sides played neck-and-neck, Nowitzki would hoist 29 points, this triple put the Mavs on top by 5 midway through third.

LeBron James finished the night with a triple double of 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

J. J. Barea had a solid performance with 17 points, his three point play helped the Mavs stayed in a healthy lead.

Dwyane Wade made ! it one p oint game midway through final stanza, Wade finished 23 points.

Dallas shot 60 percent through three quarters.

Wade nailed a triple with less than 5 minutes remaining, and that put Miami back on top by 4, however, the Heat would repeat their collapse in game 2 and 4 again.

First, Dirk drove along baseline, and sank a go-ahead dunk, that launched Mavs run in final minutes.

Jason Kidd knocked down a wide open three after receiving a pass from Terry, the Mavs took over less than 1 and half to go.

Terry played the role as assasin, his triple ended the game as a contest with 33 seconds remaining Mavs up by 7. Terry scored 21 points. Eventually, the Mavs coasted to a 112-103 victory, moving ahead 3-2, are on the brink of the championship title. The Heat get the final two games at home, but history is against them as they try to win a title in their first season together: In the 26 previous times finals that were tied 2-2, the Game 5 winner won 19 of them.
