Li Weifeng joins Tianjin Teda
China's defender Lu Weifeng is coming back to the Chinese Super League. He signed a contract with Tianjin Teda for the new season, two days ago.
The former Chinese national team captain spent two seasons playing for the Suwon Samsung Bluewings in South Korea. He made connections with last year's Super League runner-up Tianjin during the team's winter training in Cyprus, and Li took a trip there to meet his new teammates. Li is a controversial figure in Chinese football. He was punished with red cards for his aggressive play in China, but had a good experience in the K League, becoming the first Chinese footballer to play in South Korea. Next for Li Weifeng and his Taijing Teda team will be the Lunar New Year Cup in Hong Kong, during the Chinese Spring Festival. The side's first opponent will be South Korean club Ulsan Hyundai.
