Beckham wants to play at Olympics

Becks showed up in Manila with the Los Angeles Galaxy, for a friendly match with the Philippine national team this weekend. He says he is looking forward to returning to London next summer, when his hometown hosts the 2012 Olympics, and hopes to be part of a Great Britain side in the soccer tournament. Beckham said:"Im very proud of playing for my country, and having the Olympics in London next year. I would love to be part of the GB team, I would love to be part of a successful team, especially to have an Olympics in a part of London where I grew up as a child. So hopefully Ill be involved in that and hopefully Ill be going back to London next summer." Beckham: I'd love to be a part of the Great Britain team. Hurdling star Liu Xiang returns from USA

Watch Video Play Video Chinese 110-meter hurdling star Liu Xiang is back from his latest trip from the USA. He underwent some extensive training in preparation for next year's London Olympics, and along with his strength training, the former world champion also tested out his problematic achilles tendon. Liu Xiang injured his achilles tendon in 2008 and was unable to race at the Beijing Olympics. Since then, he has undergone various types of treatment to try to regain the form that earned him Olympic gold in 2004. On his latest trip to America, Liu emphasized increasing his strength, along with continuing to work on his altered starting technique, which has seen him hit the first hurdle in fewer steps. That new form helped the former world record holder capture silver at this year's World Championships in South Korea, and it may have even been gold if not for a controversial disqualification involving Cuba's Dayron Robles. Rio unveils 2016 Paralympic Games logo

Watch Video Play Video Rio de Janeiro has unveiled the logo for the 2016 Paralympic Games during the famous lighting ceremony of the city's floating Christmas tree. Saturday's presentation began with a dance and a video of paralympic athletes training, followed by a large sculpture of the logo. Shapes on the logo trace those of the famous Sugar Loaf hills. National short track championships open

Watch Video Play Video Chinas short track speed skaters took to the rink in the northeast city of Changchun as the National Short Track Championships got under way. Competitors from across the nation attended the four-day event, which will decide who qualifies for next years National Winter Games. Since those games are based on team events, only the top 8 provinces from this tournament will advance automatically. On Thursday, the local team led by national star Liang Wenhao, produced a solid performance. They won the mens team competition to earn 50 points. In the womens team event, skaters from Harbin, many of them also national team members, were the winners on day 1, finishing with 47 points.
